![]() ![]() It's not always perfect, but it's a great tool to have in your toolbox. With CapCut, you can upload the video you want to edit and change basic settings such as brightness, tone, and saturation of the clips you want to edit - all without paying a cent. I did use Twixter many years ago and was a bit disappointed compared to this, but Twixtor may have improved since then. It's not the fastest process, so I only use it as I need it (as opposed to applying it to all my rushes). So when I needed to extend a shot by a couple seconds, I was able to slow it down in Topaz to half speed, while it got pretty artifacty doing it in premiere/AE. I did a broadcast commercial that used some old product shots that we were only able to get in the masters/submasters. The footage still wasn't great, but it became a lot more useable. I upscaled both shots overnight, and had a pretty sharp B-Camera I could cut to. I've used it before in real commercial projects.Ī smaller scale project - I had a client video where they shot 4 people at a table talking to each other for an hour, with two cameras that had very similar framing (both were wide shots essentially) and were just shot in 1080. ![]() I find it great for two things - upscaling footage, and slow motion. I've had it for a few months, and I'd give it a big yes on the recommend. There's a trial though so you can test it out, you'll just end up with a watermark -) Given your use case for CGI stuff, and providing you have or can acquire suitable hardware to make the most of it, I think it's a sensible buy. Do you recommended it or regret buying it?.While it's not cripplingly slow, when I use it in my workflows I make sure to only upscale parts of the footage that I know will end up in the edit. Does it fit into your workflow or does it only work if you have way more time so you can convert all clips before actually editing?.Multiple GPU configurations are supported, you could build a system with many GPUs and get extremely fast performance if you want a dedicated system to handle it - that's what the CGI studios I mentioned do, they have a servers with a half dozen RTX cards in. On my older GTX1070 it was way slower, about 6fps. For the tasks I do on a single RTX3080, I get almost real-time upscaling performance, about 20fps. Hugely dependent on your GPU configuration and performance. How fast is it to convert a lot of clips?.It's faster for them to export at 1080p and upscale to UHD than export natively at UHD with very little noticeable difference in resulting quality. I know a couple of CGI/3D studios that use it extensively, pretty much exactly as you're describing. I use it for deinterlacing and upscaling old archival DVCAM PAL 50i footage to 1080p, and it works phenomenally well in that case - but that footage was captured on good cameras for the time.īut it's not going to make terrible looking footage look less terrible! How often do you use it in the real world scenario? Is it actually good enough to use in real commercial projects? The license comes with 1 year of updates, after that expires you can keep using the version you have but won't recieve any new updates. I heard that the license runs out pretty fast, so it's not forever bought like with Resolve, right? Looking for something more local?
